About the event

Expect the same supportive open mic, and as well as National Poetry Slam Champion Pete “the Temp” Bearder, bringing to life the poetic movements that have shaped history. Find out why wordsmiths always been vilified, feared and revered, from the ballad singers and Beat poets, to the icons of dub, punk and hip hop. The spoken word has always been the most immediate tool of cultural revival. This show brings a proud history to life, and asks what we can do with it next.

Anyone is welcome to sign up for the open mic, virgins or veterans. It’s open to MCs, rappers, poets, spoken wordsmiths to come together and share their thoughts, poems and bars.

Together we'll create a space to listen to each other.

Doors open 7.30pm, sign up for a slot till 8:00pm. Limited slots are available, all poets are pulled at random from the hat.

Open mic will be "1 piece" slots (5 minutes max).

Show starts at 8pm and will finish by 10.30pm, with regular breaks.

Entry is FREE all night, but we ask that you support the venue by purchasing a drink from the bar.

Find us upstairs at the Royal Oak from 7.30pm.
