Hammer & Tongue Solent’s monthly poetry slam showcases some of the BEST Spoken Word in the UK, as well as bringing high-quality, up-and-coming talent to the local stage. This friendly event is open to anyone who wants a fun night out where verbal dexterity tops the bill.

About the event
The Hammer & Tongue Regional Final has TWO rounds. In each round, each poet has 3 minutes on the mic (which begins as soon as they start talking) to impress our panel of judges. They will be judged by five, randomly-selected, audience members. Judges score each poem (not the poet) out of 10. They can score based on its content, its delivery or how the poem made them think and feel. Top and bottom marks are deducted and the TWO poets with the highest overall scores get a place at the Hammer & Tongue National Final at The Royal Albert Hall in January 2019.
